Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly fatally stabbed a woman early Friday morning in Crown Heights.
Police said the incident happened in front of 1168 Lincoln Place.
A neighbor, Edwin Nieves, said the victim sporadically lived with the man who rented the apartment next door. Nieves said the couple fought constantly, with the latest fight being six weeks ago.
"The police came in because they were screaming and yelling in the apartment at like 3 a.m.,? Nieves recalled.
Nieves said that was the last time he saw the woman until Thursday evening. The fight had allegedly started inside the building and then moved outside, where the 44-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck and later died.
It was not confirmed that the man who rented the apartment is the same man police are looking for. The NYPD has yet to release the name of the victim or the suspect.
Some local residents said incidents like this are rare in the quiet, working-class neighborhood.
Others, however, disagreed.
A woman who lives on the same street said the building at 1168 Lincoln Place is notorious for drug activity, with people loitering in the front all the time.
