Police are searching for a man who raped a woman in her Flatbush home early Friday morning.
The victim?s next-door neighbor, Victor McAlister, says his mother was woken up by the woman?s screams at around 2:30 a.m.
Crime scene investigators who arrived at the victim?s house spent most of the morning dusting for fingerprints on the front door and collecting evidence.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Kings County Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Residents in the area say they are surprised by the incident, because they pride themselves on being a close-knit, safe community.
?Everybody here is fine, I have no problem with anyone, so it's a shock that this happened in this neighborhood,? says resident Daphne Williams.
Neighbors also say there has been an increase in police presence in the neighborhood in recent months, which has made them feel safer.
Anyone with information about the rape is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
