Brooklyn officials raised concerns about construction safety standards after a worker was injured during an elevator installation Tuesday.

The worker had his arm and a part of his body trapped under the elevator during a routine installation at 184 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg.

According to a spokesperson for All Safe Construction company, which was in charge of the site, during the installation, a portion of the hoist slipped and made impact with the installer - a veteran with years of experience in the industry.

The worker was taken to Bellevue Hospital. Officials say he is expected to recover.

Councilman David Yaasky (D) says that much attention has been given to construction accidents in Manhattan, but with Brooklyn?s ongoing building boom, it?s about time to reconsider safety standards here as well.

Yaasky is specifically referring to mid- and low-rise buildings, which are more common in Brooklyn. According to the councilman, they require the same level of supervision as high-rises in the city.

The Department of Buildings gave All Safe Construction a violation for failure to protect property affected by construction operations.

All Safe stated that just like their name suggests, safety is their top priority.
