Thousands of New York-area home care workers, nurse assistants and other care givers headed to the Capitol today to join a giant rally for a statewide minimum wage increase.

Many Brooklyn workers boarded buses from Crown Heights this morning to join in the 'Fight for $15.'

According to state statistics, there are over 200,000 home care workers in the New York City area who make around $10 an hour, and 56 percent are forced to rely on public assistance, including 30 percent who are on food stamps. 

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has continued to campaign for minimum wage increases for all New Yorkers. 

New York's legislative session ends in June, but advocates of the wage increase say they hope lawmakers will pass it before then.
