Three Brownsville sisters are whipping up success in their Brooklyn cafe.
Their business 3 Black Cats Café and Cakery opened on Belmont Avenue in 2016 with the help of a grant from the Dream Big Foundation.
The cafe is described as a comfortable, community-oriented space that serves pastries, cakes and lunch items.
Owners Ionna, Melissa and Diana Jimenez say because they are from Brownsville, there was added pressure for them to succeed.
Some communities in Brooklyn might fear a coffee house moving in, the sisters say they credit their background of growing up in the area.
The sisters say they want to obtain a liquor license for the cafe so they can begin to hold more events to create nightlife in the area.
