A resident walking along Bushwick Avenue wore a face mask due to the after effects of the supermarket fire in Bushwick.
Lateef Edwards lives on the block and tells News 12 he is worried about the asbestos and chemicals released in the air post-fire.
“I can't take the smoke you know, respiratory things" he explains.
Edwards wore a mask Friday and says he will continue to wear one. His next concern is not only his daily walks around the block, but opening up the windows in his apartment this summer to let in air.
He says the "asbestos and the smoke smell of smut in the air and everything" is worrisome.
He and his wife are keeping their windows closed. As summer is in near sight, his concerns also stretch to utilizing his window unit air conditioner as the air that circulates comes from outside.
