The popular show, “American Idol,” is back for another season and a 24-year-old living in Brooklyn was showcased during the premiere.
Bushwick resident Meghan Fitton impressed the judges and is headed to the next round.
For most contestants, the only word they want to hear are “you’re going to Hollywood.” However, for Fitton, a quote from “The Bachelor” was her ticket in.

After Fitton's audition, judge Katy Perry brought up “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison on FaceTime, asking her if she would “accept this rose?”
The premiere episode of the show highlights Fitton's incredible voice and her love for “The Bachelor.”
“It was super fun and it was as ridiculous as it seemed. It was so true to me, I really do love the show and I'm lucky that they kind of put that story with my audition because I had a lot of fun with it,” says Fitton.

Fitton says singing is her passion.
"I've been singing since like literally I could talk,” says Fitton.

She says that as a fitness instructor and singer living in New York, being on American Idol gave her what she truly needed.

“That level of confidence and just being like OK I'm doing this for a reason and like I need to stay true to that,” says Fitton.

Fitton will be releasing her first EP on March 24 and will hold a release show that evening at Hidden Cabaret in Manhattan.
