A Bushwick woman is thanking her lucky stars after she says a summer internship helped her land her dream job.
Toni Diggs, 25, says she never imagined that her internship at a Bed-Stuy campaign against hunger would lead her to her dream of being a flight attendant.
Diggs was part of SYEP, a city-run program that stands for Summer Youth Employment Program. The six-week program helps dozens like Diggs get placed in paid internships at city nonprofits.
Diggs says the food pantry where she interned provided her with the opportunity to dabble in a little bit of everything. She says that made her more marketable in her job search.
The program is currently taking applications for paid internships. The deadline to apply is April 15.
