A Bronx organization is helping local entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground. The Bronx Women's Business Center offers free workshops, counseling and loan assistance each year to more than 1,200 people looking to grow their business. Center officials say they want women to feel encouraged about becoming their own bosses, and that they've helped some businesses expand by up to 30 percent. Soundview resident Monique McCullough says the center helped her set deadlines and define goals. She currently makes and sells her own beauty products, and aspires to run her own spa.
