A group of Bronx students are learning what it takes to be entrepreneurs through a course at their high school. About a dozen students at Bronx Aerospace High School partake in Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), a class that focuses on teaching students how to create a successful business. NFTE is a worldwide program that started in The Bronx in the 1980s. The NFTE teacher at Aerospace says the program's founder realized he could really reach his class, and particularly his low-income students, by teaching them entrepreneurial skills. Aerospace students created a school store called The Boston Marquette to help them pay for their trip to Harvard University last weekend, where they sat in on a business class and toured the city. The class co-teacher says she hopes her students apply the skills they've learned through NFTE to whatever career path they choose.
