Many Bronx teachers are banding together for a petition to curb what they say are ongoing parked car hit-and-runs near their schools.
According to teachers who work along Steenwick Avenue, speeding trucks coming off I-95 smash into their vehicles and keep going. They say increased traffic to the industrialized area is also a safety concern for kids.
Many teachers, as well as parents, want the sidewalk extended for pedestrians, and a stop sign or speed bump to slow down drivers in an effort to prevent future collisions.
