The Morris Heights fire that destroyed the C-Town supermarket has left many employees out of a job.  

The five-alarm fire erupted in the University Avenue grocery store around 5 p.m. Thursday, and took 200 firefighters more than four hours to get the blaze under control.  

A manager who has been working there for 34 years told News 12 that all store employees are now out of jobs.  

The loss of the decades-old Morris Heights supermarket has devastated locals. 

“It was really heartbreaking for me because I've been coming here since I was little," said resident Mckenzie Faucette. "They’ve got the best prices, the best sales, you could never go wrong with C-Town,” she added.  

While the fire did not spread to the business next door, the DOB has issued a full-vacate order for the building. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
