Catholic schools regrouping for new school year
Catholic schools across the borough kicked off the new year today following a summer of reorganization. Janet Heed, principal of the St. Philip Neri School, says 60 new students have enrolled in classes despite parochial schools' ongoing monetary issues. However, the majority of Catholic schools in The Bronx have recently joined forces under a board of pastors and laity. The governing body is in charge of finances, governance and marketing in order to strengthen the education system. By 2013, officials say 10 regions within the archdiocese will have their own boards, including two in The Bronx.
