CDC: 2 Rutgers students test positive for meningitis; school suggests outbreak
The CDC has confirmed two undergraduate students at Rutgers University - New Brunswick have tested positive for meningitis.
According to the school, in a statement, having two cases over a short time suggests there is an outbreak at the university.
The meningitis vaccination required for students does not protect against this particular strain.
The school suggests at-risk students get a second shot, which includes:
All current and incoming undergraduate students.
Graduate students who live in undergraduate dorms.
All members of Rutgers University with medical conditions.
