The city is calling on the state legislature to update a law on sex offenders in public libraries.
Public advocate Bill de Blasio and Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-District 22) say registered offenders should be banned from children's reading rooms.
The move comes after 49-year-old Joel Grubert, a registered sex offender from Green Point, was arrested last weekend for allegedly groping two young girls at the Flushing Library in Queens.
