Tenants at the Claremont Consolidated Houses are rallying together to sue New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), who they say is responsible for unlivable housing conditions. The tenants say that they are living with huge rats, holes in the walls and sewage backup among other dilapidated conditions. Tenants allege NYCHA has failed to make long overdue emergency repairs for years. The New York City comptroller is now accusing the housing authority of hoarding more than $1 billion intended for the necessary repairs. The comptroller's office has told News 12 The Bronx that it has gotten no response from NYCHA as of yet.
