As part of its mission to teach children respect and understanding, P.S. 69 New Vision School in Clason Point is celebrating "Respect for All" Week.
The students are wearing the color red this week, along with red ribbons, to celebrate friendship. The classes have also written down answers about respect, friendship, and diversity on pieces of paper, which the guidance department plans to string together in chains, to show how respect links everyone together.
"Educating the hearts of the children is important and that's one of our missions here," said guidance counselor Ivonne Valdizinos.
The school's anti-bullying initiative and peer mediation program have been rewarded by the Department of Education.
