The president of a Bronx college has been selected to be the grand marshal at this year's national Puerto Rican Day Parade.
Felix Matos Rodriguez, president of Hostos Community College, was chosen as grand marshal for his influence in educating Hispanics. He has been president of Hostos since 2009. Rodriguez grew up in Puerto Rico and graduated with top honors in Latin American Studies from Yale. He also earned a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University.
The theme of the parade this year is Puerto Ricans and higher education.
