A miscommunication between police and city agencies led to an expensive surprise for drivers in Red Hook Monday morning.
While the Department of Sanitation replaces signs in the area, alternate-side parking rules were to be suspended. While the residents of Red Hook got the message, police in the area apparently did not.
?We're looking at a trickle down of information. Everyone in the building knew, everyone in the neighborhood knew,? said resident Michael Prettyman. ?I don't know why the most important people - the people giving out the tickets - didn't get the memo.?
Police say that parking is definitely suspended in Red Hook and all tickets will be dismissed. Those that received parking tickets Monday morning should go to the 76th Precinct as soon as possible.
