Although 17 Brooklyn subway stations will lose their ticket agents this Sunday, residents of one Brooklyn area will keep theirs thanks to a community effort.
The cuts are part of a citywide plan to save the Metropolitan Transportation Agency money. However, Carroll Gardens commuters persuaded the MTA through a petition to keep agents at the Carroll Street station.
The MTA says it decided to keep the agents due to recent construction and that once the work is complete, the agents will be cut. However, the community says it is already planning a second fight.
