Commuters complain Canarsie traffic light is not synchronized

A traffic light in Canarsie is creating traffic headaches for some area drivers.
At the intersection of Foster Avenue and Rockaway Parkway, one light changes to green but the other remains red, causing traffic to build up. Residents say the second light was just recently added.
The problem was brought to light when a caller told Borough President Eric Adams that the lights were not synchronized during News 12's "Ask The Borough President" show earlier this month.
Some drivers say the traffic at the intersection can get so bad that they avoid the area altogether.
"I don't drive this way. I take the other way, Linden [Avenue]," says Darlene Isaac. "I go the other way around and take Linden straight to avoid that light."
While many are complaining, some think it is useful considering it is near a school and a NYPD precinct.
A Department of Transportation spokesperson tells News 12 that they are aware of the situation and plan to inspect the location by the end of the week.
