Relief may finally come today for hundreds of Con Edison customers who have been living without gas since Tuesday.Officials say nearly 800 Con Edison customers in Williamsbridge lost gas in their homes when a contractor who was installing a utility pole struck a gas main at the corner of East 216th Street and Barnes Avenue. Con Edison immediately turned gas off for its nearby customers.Some customers have since had their gas turned back on, and Con Edison officials say they're working to restore gas to one-third of the affected residents by tonight. However, they say service may not be restored for all of its customers until Saturday.
