Clinton Hill residents are questioning why Con Edison officials did not immediately contact them with information about a manhole blast in their area on Saturday.
Some neighbors were evacuated shortly after midnight Saturday, when the explosion blew out the manhole cover, leaving the sidewalk in ruins.
Con Edison officials explained later the combination of road salt and runoff leaked underground, causing electric cables to fail resulting in an explosion.
However, neighbors say Con Edison did not provide them with any information about the incident immediately after the blast, and local elected officials were also left in the dark.
The manhole blast happened near a playground, and local residents say its aftermath could have been far worse had it happened during the day.
