Over 150 residents in Crown Heights have been dealing with power outages throughout the week.
Residents at 877 Empire Blvd. said their power outages have left them cold, frustrated and they want the power to be fully operational.
Con Ed said there were at least 163 customers without service due to a damaged cable.
A Con Ed worker on scene that whole system is designed to be underground, but when salt gets inside, water becomes more conductive. Whenever there is a break in insulation, faults can happen on the power line.
That worker said the salt that got mixed underground is most likely the salt that was placed on the roads in preparation for this week's snowstorm.
The worker added that crews at the building found aluminum wires, which can be damaged more easily than the newer, copper ones. He said any degradation in the older wires will cause an outage.
Con Ed crews were on site throughout Saturday working to restore power to any homes that were still in the dark.
