A shooting at the Pelham Parkway Houses left a man dead over the weekend, prompting elected officials to call for a safety overhaul in the neighborhood. According to police, 25-year-old Adrian Garcia was gunned down Sunday morning. They say he was shot in the neck and had already died when EMS arrived at around 1 a.m. Authorities say another man was shot in the same area the weekend before. The latest NYPD statistics show a 200 percent increase in murders in the 49th Precinct compared to 2011, a figure Councilman James Vacca (D-13th District) is calling unacceptable. Vacca pledged more than $4 million for the installation of security cameras at the Pelham Parkway Houses back in June. His office says the New York City Housing Authority will begin installing them before June of next year. 1 dead, 1 injured in Pelham Parkway shooting
