“It was just a great opportunity to be there every night, not only watch the play, but be involved with these young actors,” Kutzwell says. “The majority of them, it was their first time on Broadway.”
Kutzwell has a barbershop on Utica Avenue, and was forced to close for months under state guidelines at the start of the pandemic.
Her store is back open now, but her work on Broadway is still paused.
She says her work on Broadway was at least 30% to 40% of her income.
As a barbershop owner, she says she has been able to keep up with the safety protocols.
Kutzwell says she looks forward to returning backstage when Broadway shows reopen.
