Police are beefing up patrols in Crown Heights after a brutal attack was caught on tape.
Police say an elderly woman became the latest victim last week in a string of recent robberies. Surveillance video shows an 85-year-old woman being attacked and robbed on Washington Avenue. The video shows a man choking the woman until she passes out on an elevator floor. The man then flees the scene with the woman?s purse and cane.
Authorities believe the suspect is responsible for a rash of similar robberies in the neighborhood.
Under New York?s Granny Law, the suspect faces stiffer penalties for attacking an elderly person. Police are offering a $12,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
