Brooklyn residents showed the true spirit of Thanksgiving with "A Day of Giving," an event where volunteers packed holiday meals for families in need.
More than 1,000 families who may have gone hungry this Thanksgiving will now be fed.
Community advocate Tony Herbert joined with businessman Don Peebles as well as Walgreens and People's Choice supermarket to put together the campaign.
Disadvantaged families from Brooklyn and Harlem will receive turkeys and food baskets on Sunday.
