It happened Sunday evening on Atlantic and Clermont avenues in Prospect Heights.
Police say the 38-year-old was riding a scooter when he made a left turn and lost control.
News 12 was told he hit the center median, and then got hit by a 2007 Volvo that police say remained on the scene.
