Local leaders in Bay Ridge held a fundraiser Saturday for a Department of Environmental Protection worker killed on the job last month.
Councilman Vincent Gentile (D-Bay Ridge) also recently helped rush a bill through the City Council to allow benefits to continue for the family of Gennaro Montello.
Montello was among a crew of men who was moving a temporary conveyor belt Jan. 9. During the move, one of the belt's steel beams buckled, crushing the 45-year-old man.
