The Department of Correction says another inmate was mistakenly released from Rikers Island this week. 

The DOC says it happened on Monday, June 14. They say she was mistakenly discharged from the Otis Bantum Correctional Center (OBCC) on Rikers Island. 

The department says its Correction Intelligence Bureau was notified and has been working with partner law enforcement agencies to return the inmate to custody.

Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Peter Thorne released a statement saying, “We’re working with our law enforcement partners to immediately return this individual to custody and conducting a full investigation into how this occurred.”
