Dix Hills couple turns school bus into RV to travel across country

A Dix Hills couple transformed an old school bus into a home on wheels and is now taking it on the road.
Jack Kenny and Katie Hendrix stripped the bus of everything inside and replaced it with handmade furniture.
Kenny says it was easy to find a cheap used bus for sale. "The schools have to give them away after their lifespan, but they're still decent vehicles so you can get a bus for $2,000,” he says.
The vehicle has a bed, a seating area and a small kitchen with running water and a refrigerator.
The electronics on the bus are all powered with solar panels installed on the roof.
The couple says their six-month cross-country road trip is already mapped out.
The bus, named Soul Rebel, has its own Instagram account where their adventure can be followed virtually.
