The front-facing façade of a Bensonhurst funeral home has crumbled onto the street, according to the Department of Buildings.
DOB representatives who arrived on the scene say that no people were hurt during the collapse. Miraglia Funeral Chapels’ front entrance is now missing part of its wall, as the sidewalk out front is lined with bricks, debris, and broken light fixtures.
MTA engineers are currently on-site at the funeral home, and the building is adjacent to the subway. The DOB did confirm that subway service is running normally at this time.
“The train passed, and all of this collapsed out of nowhere,” said Johnathan Agudelo, who witnessed the wall fall apart. “It was a loud boom. It was crazy, it happened so quick.”
The DOB says their investigation is ongoing here, and NYPD has closed off the sidewalk.
