The Department of Education (DOE) is being criticized for failing to fire Bronxdale High School's principal following sexual harassment claims from several teachers.
John Chase Jr. was punished with a disciplinary letter last July after female coworkers said that he made lewd comments toward them. He was also required to undergo sensitivity training, but some staffers and elected officials argue that it wasn't enough.
State Sen. Jeffrey Klein (D-Bronx) wrote a letter to the DOE saying in part, "The ruling has created a distraction at Bronxdale High School that undermines not only principal Chase's ability to run his school, but the ability for students to learn in a safe and effective environment."
