Pet huskies in Brooklyn in need of some fresh air and exercise needn't look any further. Dog-sledding classes are being offered in Brooklyn.
The founder of NYC Dog Mushers says the classes give dogs a sense of purpose. They get confidence from completing a task while working with other dogs.
The dogs learn to mush on trails and pathways in McCarren Park. After building up muscles and becoming acclimated the to activity, dogs can typically run six to 10 miles.
Organizers say afterward, the dogs will be less stressed, will sleep better and may stop destructive behaviors like chewing.
Classes are $35 per session and are held every Monday.
