Residents in Kensington will soon have a new place to come together.
The Department of Transportation, local elected officials and community groups are pitching in to create a pedestrian plaza at McDonald Avenue and Avenue C.
A kick-off event was held Sunday for the plaza, set to open in late spring or summer.
The plaza is still in its design stage, and residents are being asked to give their opinions on what should be included. They are also being asked to come up with a name for the new space.
The new plaza is part of a city-wide initiative to create similar spaces for communities.
