The embattled Soundview Healthcare Network has closed unexpectedly while jurors deliberate the fate of the clinic's founder.
The clinic posted a letter on its door saying that it is closed until further notice. The clinic says that it is working out issues with the Department of Health and hopes to open by Monday.
While the clinic is closed, its founder, former state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr., and his son are awaiting a verdict from a jury over charges that they embezzled $500,000 from the clinic.
The clinic says that no matter the verdict, it has plans in place to remain open.
