Amid the severe weather, New Yorkers tell News 12 they woke up to the sound of an explosion early Wednesday morning on Jefferson Avenue in Bed-Stuy.
Con Edison confirmed the incident was multiple manhole fires that forced residents out of their homes in the area.
As a result, traffic has been impacted on the street as emergency crews tend to the scene.
Residents News 12 spoke with say they heard multiple explosions at around 4:30 a.m.
Con Edison says people were evacuated from three different homes after carbon monoxide was detected at one of them.
