A man is facing charges of arson and harassment after police say he set fire to the New Cassel building where his ex-girlfriend lives.
The fire started around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the multifamily dwelling on Prospect Avenue. No injuries were reported,  but a total of 20 people from three apartments had to evacuate out into the cold, including several young children.
Police say 30-year-old Dimitrov Henry, of Uniondale, intentionally sparked the flames on the side of the home.
News 12 spoke with 21-year-old Bryana Hayes, who lives in an upstairs apartment. She says the suspect is her ex-boyfriend who she broke up with two months ago.
"He's been harassing her. He didn't take the break up well. So he's been threatening her," says her mother Tasha Wellington.
Hayes says she was in disbelief over the arson accusations.
"I didn't believe it at first, I didn't want to believe it," she says.
Henry is facing several charges, including arson and harassment.
He is being held on $500,000 bail.
