Experts say West Nile virus has been detected in all five boroughs this summer.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for the virus, but Episcopia says there are measures to take to try and avoid it.
Avoid going outside during dawn and dusk. Make sure to wear sleeves on your arms and legs. Insect repellant is suggested.
Only about 25% of those bitten by an infected mosquito will experience symptoms. Those symptoms can include a headache, fever, nausea and diarrhea.
Of that group, around 1% will have more serious symptoms like shortness of breath, blurry vision and feelings of disorientation.
Episcopal says those in their 60s or with preexisting chronic illnesses should take extra precautions should take extra precautions to protect themselves.
