Sizzling temperatures didn?t slow down several young Brooklyn soccer players at camp this week, and they shared their secrets on staying cool.
For the past two weeks, hundreds of youngsters have found ways to beat the heat. They say they take plenty of water breaks and sit in the shade. But unlike the cliché, it?s not beneficial to give 110 percent.
?On days like today, you?re never working at 90 percent. You?re somewhere between 40 and 60 percent,? says Larry Swertloff, the camp director.
Swertloff says parents can play a major role in keeping their kids safe at camp in the dog days of summer.
?Parents should have kids come with proper gear and be reasonably well-nourished and have enough water,? he says.
