The family of some of the victims killed in a horrific crash on the Bronx River Parkway in April have filed claims against the city and the state.
According to the family's attorneys, officials ignored calls by independent engineers to correct safety hazards on the highway, including a lack of shoulders, high curbs and low guardrails.
Three generations of the same Bronx family were killed when their vehicle hit the center median, veered across three lanes of traffic and over a guardrail, falling 60 feet. All seven people inside were killed.
The filing of claims is the first step in the family's lawsuit.
