The family of Eric Duprey, who was killed by Sgt. Erik Duran on Aug. 23, sat down with Attorney General Letitia James in hopes of bringing justice for Duprey. His family says he died an unfair death and regardless of what he was doing, he didn’t deserve to die the way he did.

The NYPD says officers from the Bronx Narcotics Unit were making a drug bust when Duprey fled the scene on a motorbike. That's when Duran allegedly picked up a cooler and threw it at Duprey's head, causing him to crash. 

Duprey's family says they were told that the scene is still being investigated. Members from the Black Lives Matter organization have been chosen by the family to be their spokespersons, and the family says they still have many unanswered questions. 

"Why are we waiting so long to charge this officer?" said Hawk Newsome, co-founder of Black Lives Matter. "We need to move forward to charge him with intentional murder, we are waiting too long and this officer is still working."
