A fire in Bedford-Stuyvesant that killed a man on New Year's Day has been deemed suspicious by investigators.
Officials say flames broke out around 2:30 p.m. Friday on the second floor of 440 Jefferson Ave.
The blaze then spread through the building. Michael Floyd, 56, was killed. 
Floyd's body remained at the scene for hours as first responders waited for the medical examiner.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
