Officials say a woman was killed in a fire early Monday morning in East Flatbush.
FDNY personnel say the fire started on the second floor of a home along Avenue D and East 52nd Street.
People who lived in the building told News 12 they were woken up by a banging sound a little after 3 a.m. and saw the fire. An older woman who lived in the unit where the fire started did not make it out of the building and was pronounced dead by officials.
The Red Cross says the whole building will need to be evacuated, so they're helping a total of 11 people, including four children, find a place to stay.
It's unclear what started the fire.
