FDNY firefighter honored with plaque dedication
One year after his unexpected death, firefighter Alexander Lopez was honored by members of the FDNY.
Family, friends and former coworkers gathered at Ladder 41 on White Plains Road for a plaque dedication. Lopez, a 16-year veteran, served during the Sept. 11 attacks, helping to locate victims' remains among the rubble.
FDNY officials say the plaque will be a reminder to all of Lopez's bravery and the contributions he made to The Bronx community. Lopez died of a heart attack in Nanuet while he was off-duty.
