New York?s Bravest held simulated incidents and workshops during Fire Safety Week to teach people how to be safe.
In addition to enacting a rescue operation using the ?Jaws of Life,? FDNY members also provided reading material on how to survive a house fire. They encouraged people to have at least two exits from every room and also reminded them never to go back inside of a house in the event of a fire.
Officials say that most fires, caused by candles, overloaded electrical outlets and smoking in bed, are preventable.
