The FDNY remembered a 27-year veteran of the department with a bunting ceremony on Tuesday.

Lt. Brian Sullivan, 54, leaves behind a wife, two daughters and a department of FDNY brothers who say he was a true leader.

The FDNY says Sullivan suffered a fatal heart attack at his home in Monroe on Friday after completing a 24-hour tour. While on that tour, Sullivan and his squad responded to seven emergencies.

One of the emergencies included a kitchen fire on 255 East 138th St.

The FDNY says that was the third report of a fire he responded to in a span of three days.

Firefighters say Sullivan had complained of pain and discomfort during his tour, but still completed it.

Sullivan was rushed to Orange County Regional Medical Center in cardiac arrest where he died early Saturday morning.

Sullivan was the member of the FDNY's elite Special Operations Command, which handles specialized jobs.

News 12 was told the same command helped rescue someone from a hole on Tuesday.
