Officials have deemed the cause of an electrical fire that destroyed multiple buildings in Brooklyn accidental Tuesday.
The fire broke out on 57th Street Monday between Seventh and Eighth avenues around 2:15 p.m.
At least five firefighters were injured and 20 people displaced as a result of the fire.
More than 140 firefighters and EMS personnel were at the scene. Officials say the five firefighters suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
The fire tore through five buildings and destroyed a grocery store and even spread to cars parked on the street.
The Red Cross says it is providing housing and giving out debit cards to those affected to buy food and clothing.
Power was turned off in the area, but restored to some areas last night.
Fire marshals say the cause of the fire is electrical in nature.
