A three-alarm fire tore though an apartment building in Bushwick Wednesday morning, leaving dozens of residents homeless.
Fire officials say flames broke out on the third floor of a building at 213 Wyckoff Ave. and quickly spread, destroying everything in its path.
"One of the firemen helped us get out with the baby," says 13-year-old Katerin Landi. "There was glass falling all over us."
The blaze forced 11 families, including 34 adults and 17 children, out into the street. The Red Cross workers boarded all the fire victims on a bus for warmth and helped them find temporary shelter.
"We have nowhere to stay," says John Soria. "They're going to put us up in a hotel, but we really don't know what hotel it's going to be."
Fire officials have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
